A Comparative Study of Tea Culture in Downton Abbey and Lang Ya Bang

摘要

茶是世界三大饮料之一，茶的发现和利用是中国人对人类文化史的一大贡献。几千年来，中国人品茶的热情始终未减，因为茶是一种有益健康的天然饮品。中国悠久的饮茶历史，形成了颇有特色的中华茶文化。茶成为中国人生活中不可或缺的一部分，它不仅是一种饮品，而且是文化的传播者。茶也是英国人生活中不可或缺的一部分。17世纪，茶传入欧洲并在英国风靡起来，在人们的生活中扮演越来越重要的角色。这种舶来品与当地文化的融合形成了一种新的以下午茶为代表的独特英式茶文化。通过《唐顿庄园》和《琅琊榜》这两部剧分析茶文化的对比研究，有助于更好地了解中英茶文化，促进两国的跨文化交流。

Abstract

The discovery of tea, one of 3 beverages of the world, is a great contribution to the history of human culture. Throughout the dynastic history of China, the enthusiasm of the Chinese people in tea drinking has remained unchanged. This is probably due to the fact that tea is a health drink. Over the long history of tea drinking, a special Chinese tea culture came into being. Tea is indispensable in the life of the Chinese people. It is not simply a type of drink, but a transmitter of culture. Tea is also indispensable in the life of British people. Tea was initially introduced to Europe and was all the rage in Britain in 17 century. Tea plays a more and more important role in Britain’s life. When the general tea culture was combined with the culture in Britain, a new unique British type of tea culture formed. Thus, analyzing the comparative study of tea culture by Downton Abbey and Lang Ya Bang, will hopefully help people acknowledging the cultures behind them and thus promote the cross-culture communication.
