语境顺应视角下美版《甄嬛传》的字幕翻译研究_英语论文

Research on the Subtitle Translation of Empresses in the Palace from the Perspective of Contextual Adaptation

摘要

随着世界影视剧事业的发展,以及中国影视剧在世界舞台上的日益兴盛,字幕翻译作为一门新兴学科,受到翻译界的强烈关注和重视。本文从维索尔伦的顺应论角度分析美版《甄嬛传》中语境顺应对于字幕翻译的影响。

维索尔伦的顺应论认为语言使用是在不同意识程度下为实现交际目的而连续不断进行选择的一个过程。语言使用者能做出选择是因为语言的三个特性:变异性,商讨性和顺应性。顺应性是语言使用过程的核心,任何语言的使用都要根据语言语境和交际语境做出顺应。研究字幕翻译对提高翻译质量,促进国产影视剧在国外市场的发展有着重要作用。

Abstract

With the development of the world’s movies and teleplays, and the growing prosperity of Chinese movies and teleplays on the world stage, subtitle translation has been attracted great attention as a new subject. This paper analyzes the impact of contextual adaptation to subtitle translation of Empresses in the Palace from the perspective of adaptation theory.

Verschueren’s Adaptation Theory holds that language use is a process of continuous selection for the realization of communicative purposes at different levels of consciousness. Language users are able to make many choices because of the three characteristics of the language: variability, negotiability and adaptability. Negotiability is the core of the process of language use, and the use of any language should adapt to the linguistic context and the communicative context. The study of subtitle translation plays an important role in improving the quality of subtitle translation and promoting the development of domestic movies and teleplays in the foreign market.
