An Analysis of Ezra Pound's Imagist Poetry

摘要

埃兹拉•庞德作为20世纪初西方意象派诗歌运动的领军人物，开创了西方意象派诗歌的先河。本论文以庞德意象诗歌为研究对象，旨在分析庞德意象诗歌在不同创作时期的特点。论文在对庞德意象诗歌的分析过程中，提出庞德意象诗歌有着以下几个显著特点：早期题材带有浪漫主义风格，创作方式与象征主义相似；中期情感表达更加含蓄，确立了意象主义独特的创作理论；后期受到中国儒学及山水诗影响，寻求更强烈的情感表达方式。

Abstract

As the leading figure of the Western Imagist Poetry Movement in the early twentieth century, Ezra Pound pioneers the Western imagist poetry. This thesis takes Pound’s imagist poetry as the object of study and analyzes the characteristics of Pound’s imagist poetry in different creating periods. During the analysis of Pound’s imagist poetry, this thesis proposes that Pound’s imagist poetry has the following characters: the themes of Ezra Pound’s early works are same as those of Romanticism, and the writing styles are similar to Symbolism; in the middle period, the emotional expression of Pound’s imagist poetry becomes more implicit, and Pound establishes the imagist poetic theory; in the late period, under influences of Chinese Confucianism and landscape poetry, Pound begins to seek a stronger emotional expression style.
