A Brief Analysis of the Development of Translation Professionalization and Business Models of the Translation Market 

摘要

随着全球化的迅猛发展,基于不同语言、不同文化的国际交流日益频繁,由此给翻译行业带来了许多新的变化、机遇和挑战,也开启了翻译职业化时代的大门。在翻译职业化阶段,为了满足不断扩大的翻译需求,翻译公司、翻译工作室等不同类型的有偿提供翻译服务的组织开始成立,翻译市场逐步壮大。而新形势下的翻译行为更让人们认识到翻译行业早已改头换面,它乘着互联网科技以及计算机技术飞速发展的便船,正朝着更广阔的空间不断前行。

本文从当前国内外翻译市场的实际出发,对翻译职业化的由来、特征和发展趋势以及国内外翻译市场的现状做出了简要论述,对翻译工作室、大型翻译公司及互联网翻译平台三种翻译服务机构的经营模式进行了简要分析,并根据其发展变化的情况,给出了一些提升翻译服务机构竞争力和促成大学生就业创业的建议。

Abstract

With the rapid development of globalization, international exchanges based on different languages and cultures are becoming increasingly frequent, which has brought many new changes, opportunities and challenges to the translation industry and also opened the door to the era of translation professionalization. In the stage of translation professionalization, in order to meet the ever-expanding translation needs, lots of organizations such as translation agencies, translation studios and other different types of translation services began to set up, gradually expanding the translation market. And translation activities in the new situation are leading people to be aware of the fact that the translation industry has changed greatly. With the convenience of the Internet and computer technology, the industry is moving in a broader space forward.

Based on the reality of translation market both at home and abroad, this paper makes a brief discussion on the origin, characteristics and development trend of translation professionalization and the present situation of translation market both at home and abroad, and analyzes the business models of three kinds of translation service organizations: translation studios, large translation companies and Internet translation platforms. The author also puts forward some suggestions on how to improve the competitiveness of translation service organizations and promote the employment as well as entrepreneurship of college students according to the findings of the analysis.
