On Children’s Literature Translation from the Perspective of Skopos Theory - A Comparative Study of Two Chinese Versions of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland_英语论文

摘要

儿童是民族的未来,儿童文学作为文学的一个重要组成部分,对儿童的教育和发展有重要影响。在近几十年来,大量外国儿童文学进入中国。然而,因为缺乏高质量的翻译,许多优秀的儿童文学作品并没有得到恰当的传播。因此有必要加强对儿童文学作品的翻译研究,展开对儿童文学翻译策略和技巧探讨。

目的论于十九世纪八十年代首次在学术界出现,这一理论认为在翻译过程中,目的应该被当作最重要的一条准则。而目的由受众决定,也就是说,在翻译过程中受众应该处在首要地位。因此就儿童文学翻译而言,儿童的阅读习惯和阅读心理是首要考虑的因素。

通过对比分析两个《爱丽丝漫游奇境记》一书的中文译本,本文作者试图在目的论的指导下探讨儿童文学翻译。 本文通过比较《爱丽丝漫游奇境记》的赵元任与陈复庵两个中文译文版本,讨论目的论儿童文学翻译实践中的重要意义。 通过目的论三原则指导下的举例分析,笔者认为目的论主要三个规则可以作为儿童文学翻译的指导。

Abstract

Children are the future of the nation, and children’s literature, as an important part of literature, exerts great influence on children’s education and development. In the past decades, large volumes of foreign books of children’s literature flourished in China. However, because of the lack of qualified translation, many excellent children’s literature works have not been spread appropriately. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the study of translation of children's literature and explore the strategies and techniques of children's literature translation.

Skopos theory appeared in 1980s. The literal meaning of “skopos” is aim or goal. This theory holds the belief that the purpose of the translation should be considered as the most essential rule in the translation activity. And the purpose was determined by its target audience. In other words, the target readers should be placed in the first place in the process of translation. Therefore, in the process of the translation of children’s literature, priority should be given to the reading habit and mentality of children.

By comparing and analyzing two Chinese versions of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, the author attempts to analyze children's literature translation under the guidance of Skopos theory. It aims at exploring the significance of applying the Skopos theory to the translation of children’s literature by comparing two versions by Zhao Yuanren and Chen Fu’an. Through the analysis of the examples under the guidance of Skopos theory, the author believes that the main three rules of the Skopos theory can be applied as the guidance of the translation of children’s literature.
