On Subtitle Translation of Monkey King: Hero is Back from the Perspective of Functional Equivalence_英语论文

摘要

在中国电影走进国际市场的过程中，良好的电影字幕必不可少。本文在尤金的功能对等理论的指导下，尝试分析《西游记之大圣归来》的字幕翻译，希望功能对等理论能为未来中国的电影字幕翻译发展提供帮助。如果译作中的源语与译语能够基本实现功能对等，那么这个译作就能打破双方文化差异，使译入语观众更好地理解原作。本文将从词汇、句法和语境三个方面分析《西游记之大圣归来》的字幕翻译，以研究该电影的字幕翻译是否实现功能对等。最后得出结论：《西游记之大圣归来》的字幕翻译能基本符合功能对等。国内较少学者使用功能对等理论分析《西游记之大圣归来》的字幕翻译。因此，笔者使用功能对等理论分析这部动画电影的字幕翻译有一定的创新意义。

Abstract

Good subtitles are essential for Chinese films to enter the international market. Based on Eugene A. Nida’s functional equivalence theory, this paper attempts to analyze the subtitle translation of Monkey King: Hero is Back, the author hopes that the functional equivalence theory can provide its help for the development of Chinese film subtitle translation in the future. If the source-language and receptor-language in the translated work can achieve functional equivalence basically, the translation can break down the cultural differences between the two sides and make the receptor-language audience understand the original work better. The author analyzes the subtitle translation of Monkey King: Hero is Back from three aspects: lexicon, grammar and context, to study whether the film’s subtitle translation is functionally equivalent and comes to the following conclusions: The subtitle translation of Monkey King: Hero is Back can basically conform to the functional equivalence. There are not many Chinese scholars use functional equivalence theory to analyze the subtitle translation of Monkey King: Hero is Back. Therefore, the author uses functional equivalence theory to analyze the subtitle translation of this animated film is of innovative significance.
