摘要

从不同的时间和空间，人们对同一作品的解读可能会有所不同，这也体现了再读经典的意义和魅力。本文试图通过重新解读《月亮与六便士》这本小说中月亮与六便士分别寓意的个人价值与社会现实的深刻含义，重点论证主人公思特里克兰德如何摆脱现实束缚追求人生理想的过程，并与文中其他主要配角的人生经历进行比较，深刻揭示所要探讨小说的主题：在个人价值与社会现实的冲突中如何实现人性的自我拯救。

Abstract

Reading a classic work in different time and from different perspectives comes to different conclusions, the process of which greatly enriches the restudy of literature classics with power and significance. In this thesis the author attempts to interpret the deep implications of The Moon and Sixpence, giving her own opinion on the individual values and social reality which have been discussed a lot. The focus of the interpretation is put on the process in which the main role Strickland made a great effect to get rid of the realistic difficulties and achieved his ideal finally. The thesis also compares the main role and the supporting roles in the novel, with an aim to bring to light the theme of the novel: how to achieve self-salvation of humanity in society when individual values and social reality conflict.
