《德伯家的苔丝》（以下简称为苔丝）是托马斯·哈代笔下著名的长篇小说。本文主要是把《苔丝》的两个汉译本（吴笛译和孙法理译）作为比较对象，从选词、句子结构、方言、典故等多个层面来进行对比，分析它们的得与失。通过比较分析，从而更深刻地理解《苔丝》这部伟大现实主义文学巨著，向读者展示译者在文学翻译的过程中如何传达原作的语言特色，有助于读者吸收借鉴有益经验，提高翻译的水平。

Abstract

Tess of the D’Urbervilles (referred to Tess hereinafter for short) is a famous novel written by Thomas Hardy. The paper will make a comparison with two Chinese versions of Tess (One is translated by Wu Di, the other, by Sun Fali) in the aspects of word choice, sentence structure, dialects, allusions and so on to analyze the characteristics of two translations. By comparison, a more profound understanding of Tess, the great literary masterpiece of realism, will be grasped. It will show readers how translators convey language features of the original in the process of translation, and help readers learn useful experience and improve their level of translation.
