Application of Schema Theory in English reading class of junior high school

摘要

本文介绍了图式理论的相关研究以及主要的观点, 指出了现有的英语阅读教学的方法中存在的一些问题,并从图式构建的角度,对英语教学提出了一些建议。初中学生处于英语学习最基础的阶段,引导他们将图式应用于阅读理解当中去,可以提高他们英语阅读的速度和阅读的有效性。阅读理解并非"自上而下"或者"自下而上"这样单一的过程,它是这两者相互作用的结果。图式的建构也是基于内容图示和形式图式的相互作用。所以,要将图式理论充分利用到阅读理解当中,就需要这几个方面的相互作用。而本文正是基于这样的论点展开的。

Abstract

This article introduces researches on schema theory and its main conceptions, and it points out some problems in current teaching of English reading. It gives some suggestions on teaching of English reading, based on the building-up of schema. As the students in junior high school are in the most basic period of English learning, it can improve their English reading efficiency and speed, by guiding them to apply schema to reading comprehension. Reading comprehension is not a single process of " bottom-up" or " top-down", but a result of their interaction. And schema is built up based on the interaction between the content schema and formal schema.

So, it needs the interaction of these elements to make full use of schema theory in reading comprehension. This article establishes based on these thesis.
