Effects of Anxiety in Primary School Students’ English Learning

摘要

英语在当今社会受到极大的关注,其中焦虑是英语学习者在学习过程中的产生的一种复杂的情感变量。语言焦虑被普遍认为是影响语言学习的最重要的情感因素之一。

本文结合自身在小学实习的经历,用亲身观察并记录小学生学习英语时的一些焦虑表现,并通过问卷调查,个别访谈等方法进行研究。本文主要探讨三个问题,小学生英语学习焦虑的原因及其对英语学习的影响,从结果中探讨教学的启示即有效减轻小学生英语学习焦虑的对策。在此基础上,本研究也提出了几点教学建议帮助小学生降低焦虑,提高学习效率。这些问题的研究在帮助学生在掌握英语知识的同时,促进小学生身心健康地发展。对我国的外语教育有现实意义。

Abstract

English learning has increasingly attracted attention in the past decades. Anxiety, which ranks high among the factors that exerts great effects on the language learning, is a predictor of success in language learning.

This thesis mainly deals with three research questions; it includes the causes and the effects of anxiety in primary school students’ English learning and several pedagogic implications to alleviate the anxiety. To resolve the three questions, the author analyzed the collected data adopting questionnaire survey, interview survey and classroom observation. The research dealing with those questions can not only help students improve English learning efficiency but also can promote their physical and mental development, which has certain practical significance to the English teaching in our country.
