An Analysis of Cosmetic Specification Translation from the Perspective of Skopos Theory

摘要

随着全球科学和技术的发展，为满足人们生理，心理的需求，大量化妆品应运而生。中国是一个人口大国，其广大的消费市场和强大的消费能力让许多国家急切进军中国市场。因此，中国加入世贸组织后，外国化妆品在国人生活中随处可见。

本文旨在运用目的论对化妆品说明书翻译进行诠释，通过探讨目的论在化妆品说明书翻译中的运用，指出化妆品说明书必须以目的性为原则，才能使化妆品说明书最终达到商业目的的功能。从目的论指导下的化妆品说明书的翻译入手讨论，结合赖斯的文本类型模型，提出有效的更易于产品销售的翻译方法。

Abstract

With the development of global science and technology, large numbers of products are made to meet people’s material and spiritual demands, including cosmetic products. China is a country with large population; its broad consuming market and strong consuming power make many countries engaged to entering Chinese market, particularly since China’s entry to the WTO. Therefore, it is common to see foreign products in Chinese people’s life.

This thesis aims at making an analysis of cosmetic specification translation from the perspective of Skopos Theory. By discussing the application of Skopos Theory in the specifications, it points out that Skopos Theory should be the principle of cosmetic specification translation in order to realize commercial purposes. The thesis also uses Text Typology of Reiss to analyze translation strategies and proposes effective translation methods for sailing.
