摘要

随着中国经济政治改革的深入,中国在国际事务中扮演者越来越重要的角色。与此同时,中国与世界上其他国家在经济,政治,文化方面的交流日益密切。在

全球化的背景下,英语已成为开展国际商务活动不可或缺的语言工具,而当各国或企业之间在进行商务谈判之时,作为英语的修辞手段之一的委婉语的恰当使用显得尤为重要。

本论文着重分析委婉语的特点及其在商务谈判中的语用功能。另外,商务谈判中委婉语的翻译技巧也至关重要,通过本文列举的例子可以更直观的看到策略重要性的体现,它们都是用来指引商务工作人员更加机智恰当地运用委婉语,从而创造一个良好的谈判环境,实现共赢。

Abstract

With the deepening of economic and political reform, China is playing an increasingly important role in international affairs. Also, economic, political and cultural exchanges between China and the rest of the world have been dramatically increased. Against the background of globalization, English has become an indispensable language tool in international business activities. As one of the rhetorical devices of English, euphemism is extremely useful and important in communication. Thus, it has been widely used by the majority of business workers in order to achieve the success in business negotiation through understanding the opponents better, which has become a common social phenomenon. 

The main part of the thesis is the analysis of the characteristics and pragmatic functions of euphemism in business negotiation. Then the translation skills of euphemism are also very important. You can clearly see the strategies by illustrating many examples, which aimed at guiding business workers to apply English euphemism wisely to create a good environment for business negotiation and reach a win-win result.
