小学生英语学习自然拼读法研究_英语论文

A Case Study of Phonics in Chinese Elementary School English Study

摘要

在英语国家,如美国和加拿大,孩子很少会机械地背单词。他们通过自然拼读法学习拼写和阅读。自然拼读法是一种教人们如何利用相关联的字母和发音进行阅读和拼写的英语学习方法。它被广泛地应用于美国省北部的小学英语教学计划中,大量的研究人员已经证明了其可行性和合理性。尽管如此,大部分的研究都是基于英语是母语的学习者,而不是那些英语是第二语言或外语的学习者。在中国,自然拼读法还不是国家课程的一部分,但它已被众多的私人英语学校应用多年。值得注意的是目前我国对其合理性和实用性的研究还不够。本案例研究的目的是找寻自然拼读法在小学基础教育中的普及程度和实用程度。通过问卷调查和访谈,可以考察学生的态度,同时探索它在当前中国小学英语教学的重要性。

Abstract

In English-spoken countries, like America and Canada, children seldom memorize words mechanically. They learn spelling and reading through Phonics. Phonics is an English learning method which teaches people how to read and spell by associating written letters with their sounds. It is widely applied in elementary English teaching program across North America, and a great number of researchers have proven the feasibility and the reasonability of it. Nevertheless, most of the research relevant to it are based on the English learning models of native speakers, rather than those of the speakers who speak English as a second or foreign language. In China, Phonics is not part of the national curriculum yet, but it has been employed by numerous private English learning schools for years. It is worth noting that there is not enough research on its rationality and practicability in China currently. This case study aims at finding the popularity and practicability of Phonics among pupils in an elementary school. Through questionnaires and interviews, pupils’ attitudes toward Phonics can be examined and the result is of pedagogical importance to current elementary English teaching in China.
