Abstract:

With the rapid development of science and technology, the film has become an indispensable part in people's daily life, thus subtitle translation simultaneously becomes an important emerging field of translation practice. With the movie Pacific Rim as an case study, this paper tries to test the subtitle translation theory within the framework of Nida's functional equivalence theory from the levels of semantics, pragmatics, culture and the style, which can help to provide preliminary data for the further study of subtitle translation, and put forward the feasible suggestions for the improvement of Chinese subtitle translation. Finally, this thesis draws the conclusion that subtitle translation should be clear, concise, accurate, vivid, and natural and conform to the foreign culture.

摘要：

随着科学技术的快速发展，电影已成为人们日常生活中的不可或缺部分，影视字幕翻译也成为一个重要的新兴翻译实践领域。本文以影片《环太平洋》为例，尝试用奈达的功能对等理论从语义层面、语用层面、文化层面及文体层面来检验功能对等理论下的字幕翻译理论，为进一步的字幕翻译研究提供前期资料，同时为改进中国字幕翻译提出切实可行的建议。最终，本文得出结论，字幕翻译应该清晰、简洁、准确、生动自然并符合外国文化。

Subtitle translation , as a branch of literary translation, not only has many characteristics of literary translation, but also has many restrictions .Nowadays, an increasing number of foreign films have been introduced into China ,and more and more translators throws themselves into the research and application of subtitle translation, which help continuously develop and improve the subtitle translation theory and strategy.
