Abstract:

In translation between English Chinese, we should properly shift our thinking mode because of the differences of the two languages. The paper is to discuss about reverse translation on the basis of contrary thinking .This paper shows us how reverse translation is applied in Chinese-English idioms translation, business correspondence translation and laws translation. The paper illustrates examples of negation and affirmation in translation while analyzing the cause of forming the contrary thinking. It holds that translators can make the translation smooth and fluent by transferring the thinking pattern in translation.

在英汉互译过程中，由于中英两种语言之间差异，有时我们必须适时转换思   维。本文在反向思维基础上探讨了反译法在翻译中的运用。在分析形成反向思维原因的同时，本文也阐述了反译法在中英习语，外贸函电和法律翻译中的体现。同时本文也分别举例探讨正说反译、反说正译方法的使用。本文指出，译者在翻译时通过转变思维模式，可使译文保持流畅通顺，从而不断提高翻译质量。

1. Introduction
Thinking modes are internal programs of brain activity which play a decisive role in both man’s statements and actions. Commonly speaking, on one hand, ways to thinking are related to culture closely, reflecting the cultural psychology. On the other hand, ways to thinking are also related to language .Thinking pattern is the deep mechanism of language formation and development, and language provides the possibility for the formation and development of thinking modes. Gu Jiazu (2002) points out that thinking appears in some certain way, expressed by some languages. Thus, different thinking modes are one of the main reasons leading to language differences.
2. Definition: What is Contrary Thinking?
Contrary thinking, which is also called reverse thinking, means that we think about in a contrary way. We sometimes should shift our thinking modes from the common way to the contrary in Chinese-English or English-Chinese translation. The essence of contrary thinking is the idea of unity of opposites. Let’s put it this way, contrary thinking is that you think about something in a contrary way while other people think about in an usual way. It is exactly called contrary thinking. A lot of examples prove that reverse translation on the basis of contrary thinking can provide more chance to success.
