[摘  要]

随着国际文化的频繁交流,电影在文化传播中所起的作用愈来愈突出。一个成功的电影译名有助于观众更好的理解原片所蕴含的文化及内容。针对当前英汉语电影名称翻译中存在的问题,本文作者从文化和审美角度出发,讨论了英汉语电影名翻译应遵循的原则,提出了具体的翻译方法,认为在英汉语电影名中不能只一味追求商业价值,而应充分重视影片所包含的文化和审美价值。

Abstract:

With the promotion of frequent culture communication around the world, the role that films play in culture transmission becomes more and more important. Therefore, a succeeded translation of movie names will help the audiences make a better understanding of the original culture behind the films. As to the problems with the translation of English and Chinese movie names, the author, from the aesthetic and cultural perspectives, discusses the principles of the English movie name translation and summarizes the translation skills, and holds the view that, culture and aesthetics, as well as the commercial value, must be taken into consideration in the movie names translation.

1.    Introduction
As a kind of consumer goods which suit both refined and popular tastes and loved by the old and the young, movies have been a vital medium in the international cultural exchange for a long time. Giving weight to the commercial value of movie names is certainly important, for movies are a kind of consumer goods. However, we should not forget that movie itself is a kind of art. Under the background of globalization, movies play an irreplaceable and increasingly important role with the international cultural exchange. With the continuous opening of the Chinese market, more and more English movies come into our Chinese people’s view. English movies are a significant platform and the main way for our Chinese to appreciate and know something about exotic cultures. In the meanwhile, the situation of international competition is becoming more severe. Therefore, the importance of soft power which is an essential parameter to measure the overall national strength has been elevated to an unprecedented level. With the prosperity of our national culture development, a great deal of Chinese movies has come into western market.
