摘要:

本文主要分析商务英语信函的文体特点及翻译原则和翻译技巧,其中包括商务英语的语言特点,句子结构特点,礼貌性特点,翻译时需要注意的“数量、质量、关系和方式”准则,及对专有名词和缩略词,祈使句和被动句的翻译技巧。文章论述时除了会引用约定成俗的规则外,还会针对每个论点进行举例论证和对比论证,其中包括从各个商务英语信函节选的段落和特殊案例等,并会对此进行分析总结,从而得到令人满意的结论。希望通过本文的研究,使更多的英语学习者能够掌握一定的商务英语信函写作技能,同时提高翻译能力,实现在涉外商务交往中,熟练运用,并准确规范的进行交流和翻译。

Abstract:

This thesis mainly analyzes the stylistic features, principles and skills of translation of business letters. The features of language and sentence structure, the politeness principle, the maxim of quantity, quality, relation and manner, and the translation skills of specialized vocabulary, abbreviations, imperative sentences, passive voice are included. In addition, each argument will be proved by contrastive demonstration or example including excerpts in business letters and special cases. Through rigorous discussion, it will draw a satisfying conclusion, from which we will master some business English skills so that we can write and translate formally and properly in international business communication.

1. Introduction
With the application of the reform and Opening-up policy, China has engaged in more and more international business affairs, which leads people to learn business English. To gain the ability to use it correctly and fluently, one should have a better understanding of the stylistic features and translation of business letters.
Business letters are formal letters used for business-to-business, business-to-customer, or customer-to-business correspondence. It is also the professional written records for import and export. Legally, these written records are the regulations of buyers and sellers for their rights and interests and the legal basis when disputes occur. Although telephone, telegram and e-mail are very prominent tools in international business, business letters are still main methods used by venders and clients to keep contact, to consult market conditions and to answer market conditions. Most business affairs did by telephone or telegram also need written letters for final agreement at the end. Therefore, we can conclude that business letters play a prominent role in international business.
