摘要

根据市场调查，当代文学作品，尤其是畅销小说的翻译质量要远远低于一些经典文学作品，究其原因，不仅有外部因素的影响，也有译者个人因素的限制。如出版社出于商业利益考虑，往往要求译者在很短的时间内完成译作。再如，译者不负责任，缺乏作为译者的职业素养，或是译者个人能力不足等。这些畅销小说的译文中经常出现意义传递不到位或意义传递过多，从而导致译文的某些部分与原文的风格不一致的现象，即欠额和超额翻译现象。本文从翻译质量的角度入手，细读小说The Fault in our Stars及其中文译本《无比美妙的痛苦》，探讨了超额翻译和欠额翻译对传递作者意图的影响，找出导致超额翻译和欠额翻译现象的直接原因和根本原因，并对提出相应的修改意见，希望能对提高畅销小说的翻译质量有所借鉴。

Abstract

According to a recent market survey, the quality of contemporary literature translations, especially novel translations, is not as good as and can barely catch up with the quality of classic literature translations. The reason causing this phenomenon, appears rather complex. On the one hand, there are external causes, such as cultural differences; on the other hand, there are internal causes, for example, only a very short time was given to translators due to publishers’ business interest, the lack of necessary ability to translate properly and the incompetence of translators. As a result, ideas are over or under transmitted, which creates a difference of genres between the original version of novel and the translate version. This is what we call: over-translation and under-translation. This thesis mainly focused on the quality of translation, discussed the influence of over-translation and under-translation on the express of the writer’s original idea, found out the main and fundamental reason that leads to over-translation and under-translation, and proposed some suggestions to future novel translation.
