摘  要

好莱坞电影经过一个世纪的发展,如今已经成为蜚声世界的优秀电影的代表。同时随着全球化的发展,中国的观众也有了更多的机会来欣赏制作精良的好莱坞大片。然而由于中美之间文化和语言的差别,为了使中国观众明白电影的内容与内涵就有需要将电影翻译成中文,其中就包括了片名的翻译。作为电影中至关重要又不可或缺的一部分,片名有着其特殊的文化内涵和语言特色,是票房商业性和电影艺术性的集中体现。电影片名的翻译属于实用英语翻译的范畴。一个电影片名的功能就是吸引观众走进电影院去观看欣赏该电影,这也同时是翻译电影片名的目的。本文研究主体为好莱坞电影片名的汉译。采用了同化,异化两种翻译策略;异化和归化两种策略又可具体体现为音译、直译、意译及改译四种方法。分析研究结果体现中美文化在思维方式,价值观,审美,宗教,文化意象这五方面上的不同。旨在促进中美电影与文化的交流与融合。

Abstract

After more than one century of development, Hollywood film has became renowned representative of the world's great films today. As the world which is globalized , Chinese audience get more chances to appreciate the excellent manufactured Hollywood blockbusters. Due to the differences between Sino-US culture and language, Hollywood film needs to be translated into Chinese for Chinese audience’s better understanding of the content and connotative meaning behind the film, which includes the film titles. As an important and indispensable part of film, title has its culture connotation and unique linguistic feature, which also significantly represents the artistry of films and commercial of the box-office. Film title translation belongs to general translation. The function of it is to attract the audience to go to the cinema after seeing the title, which is  the purpose of film title translation as well.The research object of this thesis is the translation of Hollywood film titles. The general strategy of title translation classified into alienation and domestication. Literal translation, transliteration, free translation and adaption are the four  methods applied. By analyzing the result, the differences between China and US in ways of thinking, values, religion, cultural image will be presented. This thesis aims to improve the communication and fusion of Sino-US film and culture.
