摘 要

本文旨在梳理游戏策略来阐明其在小学英语教学中的应用价值。本文主要采用描述性研究法和文献研究法,通过对游戏教学的定义和重要性,发展历程和原则的描述,并结合小学生的自然特点以及具体案例来阐述游戏策略在小学英语教学中的应用为提高教学质量提供了新的教学手段。研究表明,运用游戏策略教小学生英语不仅是可行的而且是一种较理想的教学模式。

Abstract

This thesis attempts to sort out game strategies to expound its value of the application in primary school English teaching. This paper, on the basis of descriptive method and literature research method, through stating the definition and importance as well as the development and principle of game-teaching with the natural characteristics of the pupils and a concrete study case, aims to clarify that the application of game strategies in primary school English teaching provides a new means of teaching for improving the quality of teaching. The research shows that using game strategies to teach pupils English is not only feasible but also an ideal way of teaching English.

1 Introduction

With the rapid development of the economy, our country are eager for a large number of talents in many fields, especially after China entered the WTO, people who are apt at English become popular in the field of foreign trade. And developing the country through science and education is one of the fundamental strategies of our country, so pupils in China are taught English from ten years old or so. But what has worried us most is that, according to the development of pupils’ psychology, they will be fed up with normal models which are used generally in the English teaching and the traditional model of instruction has been unable to adapt to the requirement of the primary English education, which cannot show the new concept of curriculum reform in education. So only in a good way can pupils be taught well to get rid of low interest in English, then how to reform the teaching model of primary English has become an urgent problem which needs English educators to solve, and the teaching assignment, in a way, shows its significance to the development of students gradually. And as we know that students in primary schools like games innately while game-teaching in primary schools is an effective way to foster students’ interest, which means games are playing an important part in primary English teaching particularly in the activation of pupils’ interest. And the survey shows that pupils’ interest in English is decreasing as their English level goes up. In other words, the emergency of game-teaching not only injects fresh life into English teaching but also provides new means of teaching for improving the quality of teaching and at the same time provides a new way to practice the educational philosophy which the new curriculum reform advocates. This paper holds the hypothesis that game-teaching approach in primary school is not only feasible but also an ideal way of teaching English. After all, both teachers and students like games and also, teachers should organize the game and cooperate with other teaching approaches to solve English language teaching problems.
