摘 要

随着我国改革开放进一步深化,国际交往日益频繁,学习英语并且运用英语进行口头交际已成为社会的需要。所以,英语作为一门外语已经成为中国教学的主要科目之一。但在中学,特别是农村中学没有专门的口语教材以及必要的口语训练设备,口语教学相对而言比较薄弱,且多流于形式。随着新课程标准的推行,素质教育的开展,要求学生必须具备一定的表达和交际能力,提高学生口语表达能力,相应地提高学生阅读写作等能力。本文主要研究的是农村中学生的学习英语口语的现状,从各个方面分析了农村中学生口语水平滞后的普遍原因。并有针对性地从课堂、教师、学校等多个方面阐述了培养农村中学生学习英语兴趣和提高农村学生口语能力的方法。本研究为提高当今农村中学生口语提供了一定的借鉴。

Abstract

With the further deepening of China’s opening and reform and increasingly frequent international exchange, learning and mastering English for oral communication is a basic requirement for the society. Therefore, English is chosen as one of the most important subjects at schools in China. But it is far from being satisfactory in middle schools, especially in rural middle schools. They lack specialized oral materials and oral training equipment. With the implementation of New Curriculum Standard and the development of quality-oriented education, excellent presentation skills and interpersonal ability are strongly required. Simultaneously, it is also conducive to improve reading and writing abilities. This paper mainly analyzes the present situation of English learning and teaching in rural schools in China, and finds out the original problems from various aspects, in view of the realistic problems that middle school students have. In addition, it provides specifically some methods to cultivate and stimulate the students’ interest in English learning and improve their abilities of oral English. This paper provides some reference for improving the spoken English in rural areas of the time.

1    Introduction
English is a very useful foreign language and a widely-spoken language in the world.
Now most people are aware of its importance and the necessity of learning it. However, for students from countryside in China, there is still a long way to go to keep them interested in English learning because of the poor and limited teaching condition. Most English teachers in the rural middle schools pay less attention to the teaching of speaking and writing than to listening and reading, especially to the training of speaking English. There are also some other problems that exist in the language teaching. The less they speak, the worse their oral English will be. In order to change this situation, domestic and foreign educators have completed a lot of researches from both theory and practice.
