摘要

近年来,随着我国的改革开放,运用英语进行国际化交流也就变得越来越重要。在中国,全国人民已经认识到职业英语教学中的问题,并由此导致的高职学生毕业后面对社会和找工作的固有的局限性。本文旨在介绍由美国教育考试服务中心(ETS)在中国推行的托业桥考试,同时也希望能够对改善中国目前的职业英语教学方面起到一些连接的作用。然后本文讨论了一些有关中国学生学习英语的一些动机和策略方面的一些细节,也突出了对高职教师的教学的一些启示。最后,使用基于项目反应理论的测试软件GiTEST对托业桥考试的听力和阅读部分的数据以及国内同等考试的听力和阅读部分的数据进行了项目分析和考生成绩的相关分析,得出了一些该有意义的结论。

Abstract

In recent years,with China's reform and opening up to the outside world, using English for international communication becomes increasingly important. In China, people nationwide have come to realize problems with vocational English teaching, which results in limitations inherent in vocational students when facing the society and job hunting after graduation. This paper aims at introduction to TOEIC Bridge Test launched by Educational Testing Service (ETS) in China and hopefully gets some connections in terms of improving the current vocational English teaching in China. Then are discussed in some details some advices about the motivation and strategies regarding Chinese students' English learning. Some inspirations for high vocational teachers' teaching are also highlighted. Finally, the TOEIC Bridge Test validity based on item analysis obtained using GiTEST, an IRT-based software was presented.

1.    Introduction

In this introduction chapter, the author will first present a brief literature regarding TOEIC Bridge Test in general, the content of the test in specific and TOEIC Bridge Test scholarship as TOEIC Bridge Test has only a short history of three years in China. And then based on this, the author discussed the status of the TOEIC Bridge Test in China and proposed the thesis statement which serves as the starting point for the present paper.
