Abstract and Key Words

Abstract: When training primary school students to write in English, teachers should closely abide by The National English Curriculum. Primary school English teachers must focus on students’ motivation and interest in English writing, strengthen their studies on the teaching strategies of English writing, deal with the relationship between “writing” and “listening”, “speaking” and “reading” correctly, and improve the training skills of English writing. By analyzing the current situation of the instructional ways of English writing in primary schools, this thesis deals with how to carry out appropriate and effective English writing training strategies for primary school students, with a view to stimulating students’ interest in English writing and developing good writing habits, which can further improve students’ English writing skills.

摘要:小学生英语写作能力应当依照《英语课程标准》的要求进行培养。小学英语教师在对这项工作予以足够重视的同时,必须关注小学生英语写作动机的激发和兴趣的培养,加强对英语写作教学策略的研究,正确理解“写”与“听”、“说”和“读”这三项技能之间的关系,改进英语写作训练的方法。 笔者根据当前小学生写作现状的分析,探讨如何进行适当有效的写作训练,提高小学生写作兴趣,发展良好的写作习惯进而提高写作能力。

1. Introduction
Currently, English teaching in China has been directed to develop students’ language skills and improve their communicative competence in the target language. Language skills are the foundation blocks of the communicative competence, including listening, speaking, reading and writing. Listening and reading are comprehension skills, while speaking and writing are presentation skills; the four parts supplement each other, which are indispensible. However, in English teaching practice, many primary school teachers often organize a lot of listening and speaking activities which overemphasize the training of listening and speaking but neglect the improvement of the ability of reading, with the least attention paid to the training of writing. This is obviously not in line with the principle of teaching a foreign language that should be aimed to train and develop learners’ language proficiency comprehensively and improve the effectiveness of English learning.
