Abstract and Key Words

Abstract: Teacher-student interaction is the best way to improve the teaching quality in college English class. On the basis of interaction theory, the article explores the current problems existing in college English class. With consideration of the problems, this paper puts forward the strategies on promotion of teacher-student interaction in college English class, which can provide reference for improving the level of English class teaching and reforming the  interactive teaching strategies.

Key words: teacher-student interaction; college English; communicative competence.

摘要:大学英语课堂中的师生互动是提高英语课堂教学质量的重要途径。本文从大学英语课堂师生互动的理论依据出发,探讨了当今我国大学英语课堂在师生互动方面存在的问题,并针对这些问题,提出了解决的策略,为切实提高大学英语教学水平和英语教学质量提供了借鉴。

1.Introduction
1.1 The background of teacher-student interaction
Many college English teachers are facing a problem: Students are unresponsive and avoid interaction with the teacher. This is especially true when a teacher seeks interaction in a teacher-student dialog, such as asking questions to the class as a whole, expecting at least one student to answer. This can be a frustrating experience for both parties. In fact, there will be a period when no student can answer teacher's question, and often students do not answer even if they understand the question, know the answer. Furthermore, students are often very reluctant to give feedback or ask the teacher a question in front of the class.In this class, the interaction between teachers and students is poor. On one hand, teaching enthusiasm is greatly affected that will decline the teaching effects. Also, On the other hand, Students find the courses boring, lack of passion and enthusiasm to participate.
1.2 The definition of classroom interaction
According to Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English, “interaction” means “a mutual or reciprocal action by which two or more People or things affect each other”. From this definition, we can assume that the two-way effect is of primary importance in the concept interaction, in contrast to the casual effect of one-way and that equality and co-operation are given prominence.
