Abstract and Key Words

Abstract: Teachers must pay more attention to the cultural differences consciousness in the oral English teaching, and combine the language teaching with culture teaching. This study aims to discuss overall objectives of college spoken English teaching course, and the situation of current teaching. It explores the importance of culture in the specific teaching process. Three aspects, such as, present English teaching setting, influence of mother tongue, lack of English culture knowledge, are taking into consideration. Finally, some concrete methods of teaching are forward, which will improve the quality of college spoken English teaching and the level of the students’ oral English.

摘要:英语口语教学必须注重学生文化差异意识的培养,在课堂中把语言教学和文化教学结合起来。本文通过论述大学英语口语教学课程总体目标和当前的教学状况,提出在具体的授课过程中引入文化的重要性。笔者从英语环境,母语影响,文化知识薄弱这三个方面进行分析研究,提出了具体的教学方法,以提高大学英语口语教学质量和学生的口语水平。

1. Introduction
Language is an expression of culture, is the culture of transformation. Oral English is a usage of language expression of ideas .for oral communication ability. Culture is a concept which has wide and complicated context, and it includes “knowledge, belief, policy, art, law, ethics, customs, and abilities and habits formed by people as social members.” Language is an expression of culture, is the culture of transformation. So we should understand western culture and understand cultural differences if we want to learn English well.
Oral English teaching activities aimed at developing language application ability, not just teach certain part of the language, and students were asked to complete oral task randomly using which they have mastered. This is a use of language expression of ideas, for oral communication ability. Ask students to carry on the processing, recombine the existing knowledge, and then output to finish in a particular situation of a particular communication task. Therefore, the students should have certain language knowledge and the knowledge of the world, especially to understand the custom culture of the target language society, if the students don’t know the target language and culture, also don’t know how to use language certainly.
