摘要:

英语课堂教学是目前我国高等学校的主要教学环节。大学生在学习英语的过程中,获取系统的英语知识,掌握并正确运用各种英语知识,课堂教学起着重要作用。本文试图从大学生的视角对大学英语课堂中幽默运用的效果进行研究。这些效果包括幽默对大学生学习情绪的影响、对大学英语教师个人魅力的提升、对课堂氛围的营造、对师生关系的促进以及对大学英语教学效果的提高等。同时,在英语教学中,教师要遵循一定的原则,结合教材实际和师生实际,帮助大学生更好地欣赏课堂幽默,促使大学生更有兴趣、更有热情地去学习英语。

Abstract:

Nowadays, it is important for the college students to acquire English knowledge and grasp English in the correct way. The class teaching plays an important role. The thesis focuses on the effect of the humor application in College English classes from the perspective of students. The effects include influence on the study emotions of the students, the promotion of the teacher’s sense of personal power, the creation of an active classroom atmosphere, the improvement in the teacher-student relationship and a better level of College English classes’ teaching effect. Meanwhile, college teachers should follow certain principles so that the application of humor is based on the content of text books and practical status of students and teachers. If humor is appropriately used in class, it can serve the teaching to a large extent, helping the students to learn English with more interest and passion.

1. Introduction
At present, class is the major channel for most students to acquire and master systematical knowledge of English language in China. Teaching is an art, but the art of teaching is idiographic demonstration of teaching art. In the past years, we have explored different kinds of teaching patterns to arouse students’ interests in learning English, such as the five-step teaching method and task-based method. However,they both have difficulty in guiding students to learn English well. Many students feel that they are forced to learn English and make little progress in English learning.
In fact, English teachers should begin with arousing the students’ interests and decreasing their psychological pressure, letting the students enjoy the learning of English in a relaxing atmosphere. In this way, it is easier to reach the goal of improving the students’ ability. When people tend to have humorous thinking, their inspiration is easier to exert. Without doubt, if an English teacher doesn’t know how to apply humor in his or her class, the English class will be solemn and dull.
