摘要:

中国现代教育改革要求课堂教学向以学生为中心转变,这就要求教师在课堂教学中更多运用交互式教学法进行教学。然而在我国大学英语课堂教学实践中,缺乏互动仍然是一个普遍存在的现象。本文关注交互式教学法在英专课堂的应用,对来自英语专业三年级的63名学生进行了问卷调查,旨在从不同方面了解英语课堂的互动情况及导致这一状况的原因,并试图找到解决这一问题的办法。

Abstract:

Chinese modern education reform calls for a shift to the student-centered approach. This requires the teacher to use the Interactive Approach in the classroom. But in the practice of our college English teaching, lacking interaction is a common phenomenon. This paper focuses on the application of the Interactive Approach in English majors’ classes. It reports a study surveying 63 junior English majors in order to get some information about the current situation concerning the interactive application from different perspectives and the possible reasons leading to this situation, and furthermore tries to find the solution to the existing problems.

1. Introduction
The college English teaching in China still follows the traditional pattern. Teacher-centered approach is very common in Chinese English teaching classes. The teachers just explain the text sentence by sentence. They separate English into many discrete points for teaching, with a belief that as long as their students grasp the language points, they would learn English spontaneously and their ability of communication would be improved in the end. In fact, that is not the case. Furthermore, the traditional language teaching method has been prevalent in Chinese college English classrooms for years. In a traditional language classroom, English teaching is mainly based on form-focused language presentation followed by controlled practice. The teacher dominates the classroom by explaining the usage of language during all class hours with less participation of the learners. Consequently, the English learners in China have a comparatively stronger ability in reading and translation due to this practice, but they are relatively weak in interacting and communicating in English with others.
