Abstract

With the development of globalization, the contact between Chinese and western becomes more and more frequent. Chinese culture and education have a great influence on the western countries. Chinese-American mother Amy Chua, the "Tiger Mother" whose Chinese family educational methods as well as book Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother arouse countless controversies in China and America.
In one’s whole life, family is regarded as the most original school where parents are thought to be the most essential and important guides for their kids. Based on the different and unique features and cultures of different places, the types of family education is diversified, in the meanwhile, the American type of family education is the most well-known around the world. Compared with Chinese family education, the American family education is of a great difference on conceptions, educational methodologies as well as the main points of education.
This paper is divided into four parts. The first part is about the reasons of leading to the family education`s differences between China and America. The second part is a comparison of family education. The third part is focus on the comparison of methods of family education. The fourth part is about the comparison of family education`s results between China and America. The author’s purpose is to figure out the suitable and appropriate methodologies of family education by making a comparative analysis of the differences between American and Chinese family education. At the same time, the author hopes this thesis can provide some helpful suggestions for education in order to make children grow more healthily.

摘  要

伴随着全球化的发展,中西方之间互相的联系越来越紧密,在西方文化与教育冲击着中国的同时,中国的文化与教育也在影响着西方。美籍华人妈妈蔡美儿“虎妈”的家庭教育方式与她的《虎妈的战歌》引起中外的热议,对中西方家庭教育的讨论也是层出不穷。本文拟从中西方教育差异的原因,教育目的、教育方式、教育结果等方面来探讨家庭教育的问题。
在人的一生中,家庭是第一个学校,而家长就是孩子的首任老师。儿童是国家的希望,家庭教育是对孩子的基础教育。世界上有很多种类型的教育,每一种都有自己的特征并和自己的文化相对应。而家庭教育是其中最著名的一种。因而在家庭教育的观念,方式,目的等方面,中美存在着巨大差异。
本文分为四个部分,第一部分是中美家庭教育差异的总体比较。第二部分是关于中美家庭教育目的的比较。第三部分是关于家庭教育方法的比较。第四部分是关于家庭教育不同结果的比较。本论文将通过虎妈在美国做妈妈的经历,她与孩子沟通,交流,教育过程中的细节,就中美家庭教育差异产生的原因、结果以及给我们的启示进行探讨。作者希望藉此帮助读者找到一个满意的家庭教育方法,与此同时,作者希望对家庭教育提出一些有用的建议,以促进孩子健康,全面的发展。
