Abstract: Writing is one of the basic skills of learning English. The improvement of writing is an important and difficult step in the whole process of English study. Mother tongue has great influence on the second language acquisition, causing positive and negative transfer. Negative transfer of Chinese brings obstacles to English writing. How to overcome negative transfer of Chinese to English writing is difficult and important in learning English. Based on previous research, combined with the theory of second language acquisition, this paper mainly discusses the phenomenon of negative transfer of Chinese on English majors’ writing from three aspects: lexical, syntactic and discourse levels. Then, this paper tries to find workable ways of improving the ability to write in English. It also puts forward possible methods to solve the problems brought about by negative transfer in English learning to help English Major students improve their language proficiency.

摘要：写作是英语学习的基本技能之一。在英语学习过程中，写作能力的提高是重要而复杂的过程。母语对二语习得有积极和消极两方面的影响。汉语负迁移给英语写作带来了一些障碍。如何克服汉语负迁移对英语写作的影响在英语学习过程中也是重要复杂的。本文在前人研究的基础上，结合二语习得的理论基础，将主要从三个层面讨论负迁移对写作的影响：词汇，句法，语篇，并尝试去寻找一条提高英语写作能力的科学有效方法。同时也提出了能够解决母语负迁移对英语写作的影响并且提高学生写作能力的具体策略。

Language transfer, resulting from the similarities and differences between the target language and the mother tongue, is a common phenomenon in language learning.
English writing as an output skill plays a very important role in the process of improving the ability of learners' English writing and comprehensive use of English language. English writing is not only an important basic skill in English, but also a means of consolidating English learning. English writing can help us to promote the correctness of using English, so it is important for us English majors to lay a solid foundation for writing. Writing is different from speaking because writing helps develop our ability of logical analysis.
