摘  要

    关联理论提出以后,在英语学习中的应用越来越广泛,如在英语听力、翻译和写作等方面,但将其与英语阅读结合起来的研究却略微偏少。本文试图分析关联理论的内涵以及在大学英语阅读中进行有效运用的可行性,并从词汇、句子、语篇等三个层面阐述该理论在阅读中的具体应用。研究表明,读者在阅读中不仅应关注语言所表达的字面意义,而且还应学会利用上、下文语境的关联信息推测出作者所传递出的真实意义。笔者认为,如果读者在阅读的过程中能正确运用关联理论,必将极大提高阅读效果、增强其准确获取信息的能力。

Abstract

    The Relevance Theory has been applied more and more widely in English learning since it was proposed.Although it has been used in the English listening, translation and writing,related studies about reading is very little.This paper tries to analyze the connotation of the theory as well as the feasibility of the effective application in college English reading.It mainly elaborates the usage of the theory in reading from three aspects,that is,vocabulary, sentence and paragraph. The study shows that readers should not only focus on the literal meaning but also take the relevant background knowledge and implied meaning into consideration by means of reasoning.Only in this way can they understand the passage more effectively and accurately.The author believes that if readers can use the Relevance Theory correctly in the process of reading,they will surely improve the efficiency of their reading and strengthen their ability of getting information.
