摘  要

随着全球化的进程,英语作为一种交际工具广泛应用于各个领域。由于各国文化背景的差异,在跨文化交际中时常出现误会、冒犯,甚至敌对。因此,在英语教学中适当导入文化背景知识是十分必要的,让学生更容易地理解和掌握英语知识,加强文化意识,使跨文化交际得以顺利进行,避免尴尬乃至冲突。本文主要阐述语言和文化的关系,英语教学中文化背景知识导入的必要性,并结合教学实践,从师生两方面切入,论述课堂上文化背景知识导入的内容及方法,以及如何提高中小学英语课堂教学的有效性。

Abstract

With the progress of globalization, English is used in all aspects as a communicative tool. Owing to the different cultural backgrounds, misunderstanding, violating and antagonizing often occur in cross-cultural communication. To avoid embarrassments and conflicts, it is of great necessity to introduce cultural backgrounds properly during English teaching, especially in English teaching in primary and middle schools. Introduction of cultural backgrounds arouses students’ awareness of culture, which contributes to their truly acquisition of English listening, speaking, reading, and writhing.  This paper aims at promoting students’ better understanding and using English by means of culture input. The paper mainly states the relationship between language and culture, and the necessity of cultural background introduction during English teaching. Besides, it discusses contents and methods of cultural introduction in class, combining teaching practice. And it talks about how to improve effective English teaching in primary and middle schools.
