摘 要

语言是文化的载体, 而词汇又是语言的基本构成要素。中西方文化差异在词汇层面上体现的非常突出, 涉及的面也最为广泛。了解词汇层面上的中西方文化差异既有助于加深对语言的理解, 同时也有助于把所学词汇得体地运用于实际语言交流中,最终促成交流双方间的有效交流。本文作者通过研读大量有关资料,分析了中西方文化的几个不同之处,找出了目前国内文化教学的几个误区,提出了将词汇教学与文化教学相结合的一些方法,以此来培养学生对英语文化的敏感性和洞察力, 帮助他们树立跨文化交流的意识, 提高实际交流能力。

Abstract

Language is the carrier of culture and vocabulary is the basic element of language. There are many palpable differences between Chinese culture and western culture in vocabulary, involving many aspects. To understand the differences between Chinese culture and Western culture in vocabulary not only helps to deepen the understanding of language, but also helps to employ the words correctly in the real communication, which brings about eventual effective communication between the two sides. Through the analysis of the data, the author puts forward several differences between Chinese and Western culture, then comes up with some methods that combine vocabulary teaching with cultural teaching. The author hopes these methods will help to cultivate students' English cultural sensitivity and to set up the students’ consciousness of cross-cultural communication, finally to reach the goal of a successful communication.
