摘  要

随着全球化的发展,国际交往日益频繁,英语作为国际通用语的地位进一步加强,其重要性进一步显现。因此强化和改革基础教育当中的英语教学,是我们面临的一项紧迫的任务。在教学过程中,尤其是初中阅读的教学中, 教师发现了一种现象:学生在进行英语阅读理解训练时,即使他们都知道单词的意思,懂得所有的语法结构, 但是仍然不能理解文章的真正含义。这种现象产生的主要原因是学生不能够了解英语国家的某些文化背景知识。因此本文的研究内容是设计了两个测试和两个问卷调查,其内容都涉及到英美国家的文化背景知识,以此来了解中学生对文化背景知识的掌握程度。通过研究数据等分析文化背景知识对中学生阅读能力的影响,在此基础上给教师在今后的阅读教学提出一些指导和建议。

Abstract

With the development of the globalization and the increasing international communication, English, as an international language, plays an important role in the development of the society. Therefore, it is an urgent task to strengthen and reform the English teaching in the junior school. English teachers keep trying all kinds of new teaching methods in the teaching practice. Some experiments and researches are constantly being performed. In the process of foreign language teaching in the junior high school, especially in the teaching of reading, teachers may find that although there are few new words and students can easily understand the grammar structure, it is also difficult for them to understand the deep meaning of the reading materials. This kind of understanding error or comprehension barrier is mainly caused by the lack of cultural background knowledge of English-speaking countries. In order to fulfill the research, two quizzes and two questionnaires are designed. The content of the quiz and questionnaire are related to the cultural background knowledge on geography, way of life, history, custom, art, religion, social tradition, etiquette, etc. The author makes an analysis of the influence of cultural background knowledge on junior students’ reading comprehension and provides some guide and suggestions for teachers in reading teaching.
