浅析政治语篇中的人际元话语——以《2013年政府工作报告》为例_商务英语论文

摘 要

人际元话语,作为元话语的重要组成部分,普遍存在于人们日常交际中,在政治文体中也应用广泛。人际元话语有助于我们了解作者对语篇内容和受众的态度,有助于我们更好地理解文本内容。本文以海兰提出的元话语中的人际元话语为理论框架,通过研究模糊标记、强化标记、态度标记、自我提及及涉入标记五种语言手段在《2013年政府工作报告》中的表现及应用,阐述人际元话语在政治语篇中的表现及特点。本研究发现:首先,政治语篇在陈述政府过去所取得的成就和描述社会现状时多使用模糊标记和强化标记。其次,态度标记在政治文本中多以描述事物特征的形容词形式呈现; 表示情感的动词和副词则较少出现,这体现政治文体注重客观性和真实性这一特点。再次,政治语篇中多使用第一人称复数来增强受众的参与程度,缩小商榷空间。最后,政府工作报告倾向于使用同一涉入标记,以此来引起读者注意,激发其兴趣。该研究有助于我们加深对政府工作报告内容的了解,对今后政治语篇的的研究及人际元话语理论在其他方面的应用具有借鉴意义。

ABSTRACT

As an important part of the metadiscourse, interpersonal metadiscourse is frequently employed in the daily communications and political discourse. It can help us understand the writers’ attitude towards the content of the text for the better comprehension of the discourse. This thesis, based on the interpersonal metadiscourse proposed by Hyland, investigates the hedges, boosters, attitude markers, self mention and engagement markers applied in the 2013 Government Work Report (hereafter GWR). In this way, the study attempts to elaborate on the expressions and the features of the interpersonal metadiscourse applied in the political text. The major findings are as follows: first, hedges and boosters are used more frequently when the author would like to present the previous accomplishments achieved by the government or to describe the status quo of the society. Then, the attitude markers applied in the political discourse indicating the writer’s viewpoints are presented in the form of adjectives describing the characteristics of the objects rather than the verbs and adverbs expressing the emotions. This manifests the fact that political style lays more emphasis on objectivity and authenticity. The participation of the audience can thus be enhanced via more use of the first person plural in the political discourse, narrowing the room for discussion. Finally, the GWR tends to use engagement markers to draw audiences’ attention and stimulate their interests. This paper is intended to deepen the understanding of the content of GWR. Also, the thesis is valuable to the research on the interpersonal metadiscourse or its application in other respects in the future.
