Abstract

    With a lot of American movies flowing into China, more and more Chinese people like to learn American culture through watching all kinds of American movies.  When Kong Fu Panda came out, it attracted the eyeballs of every Chinese at different ages. This movie is deeply infected by Chinese culture, like “mahjong”, “Chinese Gong Fu” and so on. Besides the Chinese cultural elements involved, American humor is also a key element to make the film a great success.
This paper attempts to interpret American humor in Kong Fu Panda, with focus on the employment of rhetorical devices and Chinese cultural elements. Firstly, it explains the definition, origin, types and development of American humor. Secondly，it analyses the American humor in Kong Fu Panda achieved by the use of puns, allusions, style dislocation, and Chinese cultural elements. The third part of the paper deals with the influence of American humor and its impact on American character, including their optimism to life, their strong sense of individualism as well as the pursuit of freedom. Finally, the paper concludes that the unique culture of America accelerates the formation of American humor, which has great influence on American culture in return.

摘  要

近年来，有很多美国的电影流入中国，越来越多的中国人通过观看各种各样的美国电影来了解学习美国文化。然而，《功夫熊猫》的上映，吸引了不同年龄段的中国人。这部电影融入了许多中国元素，同时也深受中国元素的感染，像“搓麻将”，“中国功夫”等。除了中国文化的融入之外，美式幽默也是让它如此成功的关键。
   本文试图解读《功夫熊猫》中的美式幽默，注重研究电影中对修辞的运用以及中国文化元素的融入。首先，解释美式幽默的定义，起源，种类和发展。然后分析了《功夫熊猫》中的美式幽默以及双关语，典故和风格错位以及中国元素在电影中的具体应用。第三部分主要探讨独特的美式幽默对美国人性格形成的多方面影响，包括积极热情的生活态度、强烈的个体主义以及对自由的追求。最后论文得出结论：美国特有的文化促使美式幽默的形成，而美式幽默反过来也对美国人性格的形成和美国文化具有很大的影响。
