摘要:

中国国家博物馆是向世界展示中国文化软实力的重要窗口。本文以传播学理论和相关翻译理论为指导,以中国国家博物馆英文官网为例,兼以美国国家历史博物馆官网为参照,从语言风格和网页布局两个方面进行了比较研究。中国国家博物馆英文官网总体用词相对简洁,但是比较看来句子结构趋向复杂,文本结构照搬汉语思维,网页布局单一。作者对所讨论语料进行了尝试改译并总结提炼了诸如用词简单化,句子简洁化,文本结构力求符合英语思维,网页布局丰富化等英文网站优化策略。作者希望本文研究成果对中国博物馆官网国际化有一定参考价值,对提升中国文化软实力有一定借鉴意义。

Abstract:

National Museum of China (NMC) is an important window showing Chinese culture soft power to the world. The author of this paper, guided by communication theory and relevant translation strategies, takes the English official website of NMC as a case study. Meanwhile, the elaborately selected materials from National Museum of American History (NMAH) are used as reference. The author analyzes the features of NMC from two aspects, including linguistic style and layout of website, aiming to explore the internationalized strategies, including informality of words, simplification of sentences, discourse structure conforming English thinking mode and richness of website’s layout. Moreover, the author makes an attempt to further analyze and revise the selected texts of the NMC’s English website in the two perspectives above so as to maximize the effect of Chinese soft culture soft power. The author hopes that findings of the paper will provide certain references for internationalization of the English websites of Chinese museums. The author hopes to perfect the English website of Chinese museums, thereby enhancing Chinese culture soft power.

1. Introduction
1.1 Background and significance
With the rapid development of globalization, Internet has been rapidly developed and created a new means to bridge the gap between the different cultures. It has the features of sharing the information immediately, conveying the cultural spirit as well as providing the platform for communication. In the field of culture soft power, internet also provides a greater platform for countries all over the world to present their culture and show their charming to the world. Nowadays, in addition to economy, science and technology, one nation’s culture soft power plays an important role in shaping its good international image. After becoming the second largest economy in the world, China begins to attach more importance to increasing the culture soft power.
