摘　要

《简•爱》和《傲慢与偏见》这两本文学珍品给读者建立了两个伟大的女性形象。很多学者研究的是两位女主人公的性格，爱情观等，大都忽略了男主人公。本文主要致力于采用文献资料法，比较法等方法介绍这两部小说并着重分析比较两位男主人公在性格方面的异同。罗切斯特与达西在外表、性格、爱情观和生活方式等多方面都存在着异同点，揭示出他们是不同时代、不同阶层和不同性格的两类人。他们的生存状态、不同的时代、不同的阶层无一不影响着两位男主人公的性格。希望通过本次毕业论文，综合运用所学知识，根据国内外的研究现状，具体详细解决两位男主人公的性格差异对比分析。

Abstract

The two literary treasures Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice set up two great female images to readers. What many scholars study are the characters of the two heroines, the concept of love and so on, meanwhile, most of them ignored the two heroes. Therefore, this article focuses on describing the two novels, comparing and analyzing the similarities and differences of the two heroes’ characters by means of literature data, comparative etc. Rochester and Darcy have several aspects of similarities and differences in appearance, personality, views on love and lifestyle, which reveal that they are two kinds of people of different eras, different classes and different personalities. Their survival status, different eras, and different classes all affect the two heroes’ characters. This thesis aims to solve a comparative analysis of the two heroes’ different personalities in detail according to learned knowledge and research status at home and abroad.

1 Introduction
Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice are two famous English novels which are regarded as literary treasures. They are written by Charlotte Bronte and Jane Austen respectively. The two books are mainly on the subject of love, but unless those novels which emphasize on the great of love, these two books tell us that love is based on equality. The authors set up two great women images before readers: insisting on maintaining an independent personality, pursuit of individual freedom, advocating equality of life. However, the main content of this paper is to briefly introduce the two novels and two heroes, then, analyze the two heroes and compare them on the basis of understanding the two novels. Rochester, the hero of Jane Eyre and Darcy, the hero of Pride and Prejudice own similarities and differences in their appearance, personality, survival of the state, the concept of love, lifestyle and ideal pursuit. All these reveal they are two types of people who have different personalities, different ideals and different walks of life pursuit from different eras. This article focuses on comparative analysis of the similarities and differences of the two heroes in character. Their survival status, different era and different class all affect the two heroes’ character.
