摘 要

夏洛蒂•勃朗特英国小说家1846年出版《简•爱》,小说至今已有167年历史。因主人公简•爱的品格《简•爱》是受喜爱和研究的著作。《简•爱》是一部出色的自传小说。女主人公简•爱没有娇好的面容或是富有的家庭,但是她和其它著作中的美丽女主人公一样,深深地吸引着人们。简•爱是一个可怜的孤儿,随后又被送进寄宿学校,过着艰苦的生活。她最终却成为了一位坚强独立的女性,并且她拥有非凡的气质,同时也得到罗切斯特先生的深爱。论文观点是简•爱坚强独立的形象。 简•爱对独立自由的追求。简•爱对不公正和压迫的反抗的坚强形象。简•爱坚强独立形象里具有美好人格和真爱。以及坚强独立人格对简•爱的重要性。简•爱是一位伟大的女性,她有敢于挑战世俗的品格。

Abstract

British novelist Charlotte Bronte wrote Jane Eyre in 1846. Although having about 167 years by now, it is popular to people because of the heroine Jane Eyre. Jane Eyre as a famous novel for study in a long time, and it is remarkable literature. Jane Eyre also is an excellent autobiographical work. The heroine Jane Eyre has no beautiful appearance or wealthy family, but she still attracts people. She is an orphan, and then she is sent to Lowood School, living hard. But she becomes a strong and independent Miss, having extraordinary temperament and getting Mr. Rochester’s true love finally. The thesis focuses on analysis of Jane Eyre’s strong and independent image. Her pursuit of independence and freedom. Her strong image of resistance for injustice and oppression. Her strong and independent image of beautiful personality and pure love. Besides, significance of strong and independent personality to Jane Eyre. She is such a great woman because she dares to challenge people’s traditional opinions with her unique character.

1 Introduction
The early years of the Victorian Age is a time of rapid economic development. England developed into a rich and advanced industrial country. However, there were many social problems. For example, the sharp contrast between the rich and the poor, the rigid social hierarchy. In this period, women were still regarded as second-class hierarchy. They were employed as cheap labor and forced to do very hard jobs. They did not get the right to vote until 1918. In the late period of the Victorian Age, a feminist movement started fighting for women’s equality, freedom and education and employment opportunities. “Charlotte Bronte's novel Jane Eyre embraces many feminist views in opposition to the Victorian feminine ideal. During the 1800’s, the time in which Jane Eyre was written and setting of the novel. Women were stereotyped as being “submissive, dependent, beautiful, but ignorant.” Charlotte Bronte attempted to change it by creating a heroin that possessed the antisepsis of this trait. Indeed, the main female character of this novel, Jane Eyre may be a plain woman but she is an intelligent one. She is also has self confident, strong willed and morally conscious. She not only trusts in her ability to make decisions but also in her freedom to do so.”
