Abstract

     Harry Potter, a masterpiece of the famous novelist J. K. Rowling, is a series of books mainly about the growth of the hero living in a magic world. This paper makes an analysis of the magic agents, including persons with magic power, the creatures and objects with magic devices. All persons and the objects have a deep cultural implication, such as racial discrimination and class differences. With the application of the magic agents, it further demonstrates the specificity of this series of novels and the consideration of children’s education.

摘 要

英国女作家J.K.罗琳创作的《哈利•波特》是一系列具有魔幻性的儿童成长小说。本文主要从被赋予神奇魔力的人，拥有奇特色彩的生物以及物品三方面，进一步探讨了小说中具备的魔幻因素，重点揭示了这部小说中所蕴含的文化内涵，例如种族冲突以及阶级差别。作者对于魔幻因素的巧妙运用，使小说具有独特的魅力，对儿童读者有着深刻的教育意义。

1. Introduction
Joanne Rowling, OBE, an English fiction writer who writes under the pen name J. K. Rowling, is the author of the Harry Potter fantasy series, which has gained international attention, helped the author won multiple awards, were sold over 375 million copies worldwide. After studying French and Classics at the University of Exeter (she had previously applied to Oxford but was turned down), with a year of study in Paris, she moved to London to work as a researcher and bilingual secretary for Amnesty International. She had the idea for a story of a young boy attending a school of wizardry while she was on a four-hour delayed-train trip between Manchester and London. When she had reached her Clapham Junction flat, she began writing immediately. In February 2004, Forbes magazine estimated her fortune at 1 billion dollars, making her the first person to become a US-dollar billionaire by writing books.
The series of the novel include Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001)， Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2008), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (2010), which are full of imagination and exaggeration. As a member of children’s literature, the novels are different from the others. The author gives the wizarding world all things and all the needed rules which are able to balance the normal social order. In Harry Potter, there are hierarchy, and currency, magic name and magic items, and also mannered law which belong to its school.
