摘要：

杰克.伦敦不仅仅是作家、记者，也是小说界的先锋并在这一领域享有盛誉。他的作品《白牙》、《马丁伊登》、《野性的呼唤》和《海狼》等作品在20世纪初广为流传。一直以来，很多学者认为海狼是书中被批判的人物，而本文却持相反观点，认为海狼是该书中最真实的一个人物，是19世纪的缩影。论文中主要介绍的《海狼》一书写于1904年具有极高的社会价值与艺术魅力，并在将近一个世纪的岁月里为世界各地的读者们诵读。
   论文以海狼和巴克的人物形象为切入点，通过外因和内因从两方面对这两个主要人物的比较分析来体现海狼这一人物的悲剧色彩。其中，外因将包含自然环境，社会环境以及他们的成长环境这三方面；内因是他与巴克的本质的不同，也是造成海狼悲剧的主要原因。论文结尾将阐述本文对海狼的看法以及对这一英雄人物的尊敬与赞赏之情。

Abstract:

Jack London is not only an author, a journalist, but also a pioneer in the fiction world, enjoying worldwide celebrity in such a new area. He is best remembered with the works like The Martin Eden, The White Fang, The Call of the Wild and The Sea-Wolf. This series books are very popular among the common during the 19th century. This paper will give a detail analysis to one of Jack London’s monumental work The Sea Wolf. As most of the scholars hold the ideas that Sea Wolf is the one to be criticized in Jack London’s book, while this paper hold the opposite ideas that the Sea Wolf is more real than any of the characters in Jack London’s book. He is the reflection of the world of the 19th century. The Sea-Wolf which is published in 1904 enjoys great popularity and artistic charm in the lasting one century, besides it is also widely read by the readers all over the world.
Based on the two main characters Sea-Wolf and Buck, this paper will be organized like this. This thesis aims at presenting my idea on Larsen and through a detail contrast of Sea Wolf and Buck from two parts — to highlight the tragedy of Larsen. The research will be conducted from the external and internal reasons. The external part will include three reasons which cause the tragedy of sea wolf—the natural environment, the social environment and the environment he are brought up; and the other is the internal part — the internal part will include one reason which lead to the tragedy of sea wolf according to the contrast with Buck — his own character. After the analysis of those reasons leading to Sea Wolf’s tragedy, I will show my respect and admiration to him, and give a conclusion to my own idea on this hero.
