摘要：

在历史的长河里，英格兰经历了多次外族入侵。每次外族入侵给英格兰带来的文化融合和文化再生都具有重要的意义。中世纪维京入侵就是一个很好的范例。本论文针对8世纪到11世纪维京入侵与定居英格兰这段历史，从语法、词汇、人名、地名和习语角度探究其对英格兰语言的影响。同时，本论文从北欧神话的角度探究此次入侵对英格兰文学的影响。简要分析九部文学作品后，以托尔金指环王三部曲为重点，从种族分类、意象内涵、情节设置、英雄形象和丧葬习俗角度阐述指环王三部曲与北欧神话的相似点。作者希望通过研究中世纪维京入侵与定居对英格兰文学及其语言的影响，进一步了解英格兰文化中的维京元素。

Abstract:

In the long course of history, England has subjected to foreign invasions for several times. The cultural fusion and cultural regeneration that each invasion has brought to England are of great significance. And the Viking invasion and settlement in England from eighth century to eleventh century is one good example. Concentrated on the period of history, this paper explores the influence of the Viking invasion and settlement on English language from the perspective of grammar, vocabulary, names of people and places, and idioms. Meanwhile, this paper analyzes the influence of Viking invasion and settlement on English literature from the perspective of Norse mythology. After a brief analysis of nine works, The Lord of Rings trilogy is taken as the major example. And similarities between it and Norse mythology on the aspects of peoples of characters, the connotations of the symbols, arrangement of plots, heroic image and burial rite have been displayed. The author hopes to have a deeper understanding of the Viking elements in English culture by studying the influence of the Viking invasion and settlement on English literature and language.
