摘要：

弗吉尼亚·伍尔夫是二十世纪英国文坛的领军式人物，也是同时期意识流小说的代表作家之一。她在著作《达洛卫夫人》中对意识流技巧做出了大胆的革新。本文旨在探讨作者如何通过对意识流技巧的创新运用来提升小说创作的整体叙事效果和思想性表达。伍尔夫通过“自由联想”,对叙述视角、时间、空间进行转换，加强了小说叙事的流畅性；通过将直接、间接两种“内心独白”技巧运用于人物塑造，使主人公的性格更加分明；通过借助“符号象征”的手法传神地表达了自己的女权意识和反战主义思想。

Abstract:

 As an outstanding British novelist in the 20th century, Virginia Woolf is also one of the distinguished stream-of-consciousness writers. Her representative work Mrs. Dalloway gives the stream-of-consciousness novel a great improvement. This thesis analyzes how Woolf promotes narrative effects, characterization, and thought expression by using the writing skills of stream of consciousness in this fiction. For example, the application of free association including shift of perspectives, time and space strengthens the fluency of narration; the application of both direct and indirect interior monologue makes characters’ personalities more distinct; Woolf also successfully expresses her feminism and pacifism by means of symbolic imagery.
