摘　要

本论文主要是研究《月亮与六便士》中主人公斯特里克兰德的人物形象。本文通过阅读原著、查阅借鉴前人资料等方法，逐步对斯特里克兰德这一传奇人物形象进行了分析。本论文揭示了其主人公斯特里克兰德性格中的神秘莫测，勇敢而执着，以及冷酷无情，从而反映出斯特里克兰德的人物性格特点。其次也分析了斯特里克兰德性格的外在表现：逃离女权主义和寻求自我价值。本文揭示了主人公斯特里克兰德为了追求理想逃避现实的主题，突显了现实与理想之间的矛盾。探讨了斯特里克兰德作为一个孤独的精神探索者挣脱精神枷锁的意义，从而深入到追求自我之路，可以看出他脱离世俗的眼光和偏见，以及淡泊名利的愿望。也体现了斯特里克兰德对自我的追求。

Abstract

This thesis mainly focuses on the image of leading character, named Strickland, in the famous novel The Moon and Sixpence. By means of reading the original version of this famous novel and also by comparing the results from other studies which have been published before, the legendary personality of Strickland are disclosed step by step. This paper reveals the mysterious characteristics of Strickland, who is not only brave, but also persistent and callous. The personality of Strickland is reflected through all these characteristics. The outward manifestation of Strickland’s personality is also analyzed: namely, to escape from feminism and to pursue for realization of his self-value. This thesis reveals the theme that Strickland escapes from the reality in order to pursue his own ideality, and also reveals the irreconcilable conflicts between the ruthless reality and imaginary ideality in his world. It is also pointed out how Strickland, as a lonely spiritual seeker, breaks the shackles of the spirit for the purpose of realizing his self-value and seeking for his own road towards ideality. All these struggles and endeavors indicate the fact that he is indifferent with both fame and wealth. He also wants to get rid of the secular vision and prejudice from common publics, which reflects that he is on his way to realize his self-value.
