A Study of C-E Translation of China Import and Export Fair's Official Website from the Perspective of Newmark's Communicative Translation Theory_英语论文

摘要

中国进出口商品交易会(广交会)这一综合性国际贸易盛会,已经成为中国与世界的友谊的纽带和贸易的桥梁。广交会的官方网站是其对外宣传的主要渠道,是世界人民了解广交会甚至中国的重要窗口。为了探讨如何使用不同的翻译方法和技巧以实现跨文化交际和促进贸易交流的目的,本文以纽马克交际翻译理论为基础,对广交会官方网站的汉英翻译进行分析。纽马克的交际翻译理论是为了让译文对译文读者和原文对原文读者产生的效果相似,最终获得一定的交际效果。在这一理论指导下,本文对广交会网站翻译中所采取的翻译方法和翻译技巧,包括直译法、意译法、省译法和词类转换法进行分析。本文发现,纽马克交际翻译理论适用于指导广交会网站的翻译,并且翻译应采用灵活的方法和技巧以实现交际效果。

Abstract

The China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair), a comprehensive international trading event, has become a bond of friendship and a bridge for trade between China and the world. The official website of the Canton Fair is the main channel for its publicity and an important window for the world to understand the Fair and even China. 

Aiming to explore how to use different translation methods and techniques to achieve the purposes of cross-cultural communication and promoting trade exchange, this paper analyzes the Chinese-English translation of the official website of the Canton Fair based on Newmark's communicative translation theory. Newmark’ communicative translation theory attempts to produce on its readers an effect as close as possible to that obtained on the readers of the original. Under the guidance of this theory, the paper probes into the translation methods and translation techniques adopted in the translation of the Canton Fair website, including literal translation, free translation, omission and conversion of parts of speech. The paper found that Newmark’s communicative translation theory is suitable to guide the translation of the Canton Fair website and flexible translation methods and techniques should be used to obtain communicative effect.
