A Simple Stylistic Analysis of Quotes in Fortune Cookies_英语论文

摘要

近年来，随着英语文体学研究的深入发展，在各种语言学学术期刊上都能看到大量的运用文体学分析方法对各种语料题材进行分析的文字资料，其中最为常见的便是对名人演讲、小说、广告、新闻等进行的文体学分析，而关于幸运签语饼这一富有中西风语言文化特殊的语言材料方面的文体学分析则并不显见。因此，本文将从词汇、语法和修辞这三个角度入手，对幸运饼干签语进行文体学分析。本文希望通过对幸运饼干签语的深入分析，去探寻幸运饼干签语的语言特色并揭示其风靡国外餐馆的秘密。本研究在某种程度上有利于提高读者的英语鉴赏能力，同时也可以吸引更多的学者关注这一特殊的语言现象。

Abstract

In recent years, with the development of English stylistics research, we can see that a large number of papers employing various stylistic analysis methods to analyze different materials in academic journals. The research objects are mainly about stylistic analysis of celebrity speeches, novels, advertisements, news, etc. and few studies have paid attention to the quotes in Fortune Cookies, which is a special linguistic material with Sino-western language culture. Therefore, this thesis intends to conduct stylistic analysis on the quotes in Fortune Cookies from the aspects of lexical level, grammatical level and rhetorical level. And through the in-depth analysis of the quotes in Fortune Cookies, the study in the thesis aims to explore linguistic features of quotes in Fortune Cookies and to reveal the secret of their popularity in foreign restaurant. The analysis in the thesis can be beneficial for readers to enhance their ability of English appreciation. Meanwhile, it can somehow to some degree arouse scholars’ attention to this special linguistic phenomenon.
