《紫色》是艾丽斯·沃克的代表作,作为一部经典的女性主义文学作品，这部小说揭露了黑人女性在父权社会中遭受种族和性别歧视的双重压迫。西蒙·波伏娃在《第二性》中提出了“女性是他者”的观点，并分析了造成女性他者的原因。许多学者运用这一理论来分析文学作品中女性的他者是如何形成的。本论文主要从西蒙·波伏娃的“他者”理论为基础，探讨了小说中的西丽在女性的相互帮助下，从他者地位到自我意识的觉醒过程。西丽的自我意识有助于女性破解他者地位，发掘自身价值。此外，本论文通过对西丽的“他者”形象及实现“自我”的分析，希望能丰富女性主义文学的研究。
