Abstract and Key Words

Abstract: This study aims to investigate the influence of teachers’ feedbacks and give some advisable strategies about teachers’ feedbacks, which is directed towards the features of language learning in primary school. The results show that giving feedbacks in time can arouse students’ learning motivation and help them learn well constantly. Positive feedbacks can give students confidence and help to develop their learning interest, while negative feedbacks may hurt some students’ proper pride and make them be unwilling to learn. Accordingly, in primary class, teachers should give positive feedback pointedly and euphemistically use negative feedback to encourage and help students to learn English better.

摘要:本文主要结合小学生语言学习的特点,研究教师反馈对语言学习的影响,并给出一些可行性的建议。研究结果表明:及时给予教师反馈可以增强学生的学习动机,帮助他们不断提高学习成绩;肯定反馈能让学生充满自信,帮助他们培养学习兴趣,而否定反馈可能会伤害一些学生的自尊心,导致学生不愿学习。因此,在小学英语课堂中,教师应该有针对性地进行肯定反馈,委婉地提出否定反馈,借此鼓励和帮助学生更好地学习英语。

1. Introduction
Teachers’ feedback refers to teachers’ immediate reaction to learners’ performances, including verbal form and non-verbal form, with the aim to promote learners’ learning.
In English classes, both teachers and students have to speak in English. This settles the particularity of English teachers’ feedback. Although some teachers may give some feedbacks to encourage their students, they lack the systematical theory about teachers’ feedback. Most teachers do not recognize that teachers’ feedback plays an important role in helping to promote their teaching and learning. Students, no matter the top ones or the underachieving ones, all prefer to the positive teachers’ feedback. They expect a relaxed and active learning environment. They may become more confident in their performance in their English classes when they get positive feedbacks from their teachers. Otherwise, they may become reluctant to the English classes.
As a language learner, the author concern about the problem of the use of teachers’ feedback. With her interest in teachers’ feedback and based on the analysis of numerous literature, the present thesis shows the importance of teachers’ feedback in primary school English class in consideration of the language learning features of primary school students.
