Abstract and Key Words 

Abstract: There are many problems in the middle school students’ English listening study. Many factors affect students’ English listening comprehension. Whether students can properly use listening strategies affects the development of their listening comprehension. This paper reveals the problems in high school students’ listening through the questionnaire, then the author analyses the reasons from two aspects, intrinsic factors and extrinsic factors. In the end of this thesis, the author puts forward the advice and strategies of helping the students improve the listening comprehension.

摘要:在中学生的听力理解学习中存在着多种问题,而中学生听力水平的提高也受到很多因素的制约,能否正确使用听力策略对提高中学生听力水平有着重要的影响。本文通过问卷调查的方法分析了中学生听力学习中存在的问题,并分析这些问题存在的原因,分别从内因与外因两方面展开解释,最后提出教师如何帮助中学生提高听力理解水平的策略和建议。

1. Introduction
Nowadays, listening comprehension is gaining more and more attention in China. However, listening comprehension is hard for Chinese middle school students, because as foreign language learners, the students lack a language atmosphere and are not able to be exposed to sufficient language input.
English listening strategies refer to the measures which learners take to make English listening more effective. It not only includes learner's mechanism, and also includes its concrete motion. In fact, the listening understood constructs the significance positively; the strategies promote the listening comprehension.
In the past 20 years, scholars in our country and abroad published only 38 articles about English study strategies. According to a visual, 14 articles belong to the macroscopic visual, 24 belong to the micro -visual. Only7 involve to listening strategy in the micro-visual. And only Su Yuanlian searched the listening strategy of high school students. Therefore, this thesis is a study on strategies in high school students’ English listening comprehension
Through the study and the questionnaire of the English listening strategies used by middle-school students, the author puts forward the proposal, hoping that the teachers would get the present situation of the middle-school students’ listening comprehension, and improve the teaching method, sharpen the teaching faculty, thus help the students grasp the study method better, in order to raise their listening comprehension and application ability.
