Abstract:

This study aims to explore the relationship between the oral English teaching and the                   situational teaching method. This paper raises the principles about how to create the situation in class in Middle School by analyzing current situation and studying the theories. Empirical research is also used to support the ideas and to delve into the study. The results show that the situational teaching method in oral English class is more suitable to the current condition. Students will be more interested in their English study. Furthermore, it is easily carried out by teachers in their class. The paper concludes that the situational teaching method can improve students’ oral English efficiently.

摘要:

对于把英语当作第二语言学习的中国学生来说, 学习难点在于如何培养“用                               英语交流信息的能力”, 主要问题在于缺乏语言环境。为此, 通过情景教学法, 在课堂教学中尽力为学生营造一个融视、听、说于一体的语言环境是英语口语教学突破这一难题的关键所在。因此本文旨在研究情境教学法在中学英语口语教学中的应用,通过文献调查和研究,总结出笔者对于情境教学法的使用原则和创设方法的探究结果, 为进一步的研究和证实, 对初一年级的三个班级进行了实验研究。 本文首先对情境教学法的定义及现状作了说明,然后对情境创设的原则和方法提出了自己的看法,最后通过调查研究,以图表说明情境教学法对英语口语教学的有效性。

1. Introduction
Because of the reform and opening-up, the scale of English teaching in our country has been expanding. However, the current adopted teaching system, methods and supporting facilities are difficult to meet the demand of talent cultivation in our country. Also, there is a large gap between the current English education and the rapid development. Nowadays, the exam-oriented education becomes a big barrier to the development of students’ oral English. In the stage of elementary education, we all have to face the high school entrance examination. Parents expect more to see the scores of their kids improving. However, students will become more and more afraid to speak out in English, which produces the “Dumb English” in our society. The phenomenon that the middle school students obviously show a rather low lever in spoken English turns out that it is urgent for English teachers to do further research and find out a new and appropriate teaching method. On the way of exploring the teaching method, many English teachers and education experts consider the situational teaching method the most appropriate for our country’s students.
