《飘》是美国作家玛格丽特·米切尔的一部小说。小说描绘了南北战争前后美国南部的生活，以主人公的爱情为主线，成功再现了林肯领导的南北战争和美国南部的社会生活。《小女人》是路易莎·梅·奥尔科特的小说，这部小说是一部以美国内战为背景的家庭伦理小说，主要描写19世纪新英格兰一个普通家庭中四姐妹的生活。本文首先对两位小说家和这两部作品作了简要的介绍，然后试图从经济、政治、文化、军事等方面分析南北战争时期的差异，有助于更好地了解美国历史上那段特别时期。
